Gérard Depardieu was indicted in France on December 16, 2020, for “rape” and “sexual assault” following the complaint filed by the actress. The Court of Appeal confirmed this indictment in March 2022. Charlotte Arnould felt immense relief after the publication of the testimonies in Mediapart, as she no longer feels isolated in this case.

In 2018, the young woman, then a dancer, was selected for Passion, a play directed by Fanny Ardant. She was invited to Gérard Depardieu’s home, a “family friend” whom she trusted. Her complaint, filed in Lambesc (Bouches-du-Rhône), was leaked to the media. She feared retaliation from the actor’s Russian supporters.

Charlotte Arnould believes that there is a deafening silence in the professional environment and laments the solidarity among the powerful. The 74-year-old actor “categorically denies all criminal accusations,” according to the Temime law firm, which is handling his defense.
