Hellfest 2023: A More Breathtaking Metal Event Than Ever

MUSIC – From June 15 to 18, Clisson was overflowing with energy as Hellfest attracted thousands of enthusiasts who came to celebrate music, camaraderie, and a passion for rock. Over 180 bands took the stage, including Tenacious D, Fever333, Sum41, Porcupine Tree, and Bloodywood.

Unforgettable Performances and Surprises

Nantes-based Carpenter Brut invited Michael Sembello to conclude their performance, while Architects and Parkway Drive displayed boundless energy. Iron Maiden, Kiss, and Def Leppard delighted their fans with well-oiled shows. Highlights included grandiose fireworks and impromptu encounters between fans from all over the world.

Improvements and New Features for This Edition

The Hellfest site was expanded and infrastructure optimized to ensure the comfort and safety of attendees. People with reduced mobility enjoyed appropriate facilities. However, issues with waiting times at food points and network saturation were reported.

Hellfest is also a festival of excess for its critics. 5,000 volunteers, a budget of 35 million and constantly increasing, with very few subsidies.

Major Transformations Planned for Upcoming Editions

The “Guardian of Darkness,” a monumental work designed by La Machine company, is expected to be unveiled in 2024. A brewery and a children’s play area, funded by the region, department, and agglomeration community, are planned for 2025.
