The modernization works of the Stade de France, in preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games, will begin in December. Consequently, the Parc des Princes, which last hosted the French team in November 2021, will be called upon again. Other cities, such as Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, and Metz, will also host Les Bleus for friendly matches or playoffs for Euro 2024.
31 cities vying to host an international match
The choice of cities was determined by the executive committee of the French Football Federation (FFF) following a consultation launched in March. “Thirty-one cities submitted their candidacy to host an international match” for the men’s, women’s, and Espoirs (youth) French teams, according to an FFF statement.
“This consultation demonstrates the appeal of our teams, and we are delighted. They will perform in front of their fans throughout the territory, as ten out of thirteen metropolitan regional leagues will be involved,” says Philippe Diallo, acting president of the FFF.
Next season, the French women’s team will play in Valenciennes, Reims, Rennes, Sochaux, Metz, and Saint-Etienne. Unlike Les Bleus, the Bleues do not have a dedicated stadium.
