Modular design and “tab archipelagos”
Opera One introduces a new architecture with a modular design that promises smoother web browsing. Innovations in the new browser include “tab archipelagos” and the integration of generative AI, such as AI Prompts, ChatGPT, and ChatSonic.
The “tab archipelagos” feature is a new way to organize multiple browsing tabs by intuitively grouping tabs with related topics. This tool takes advantage of the new modular design of Opera One.

Integration of generative AI
Another innovation showcased in the Opera One project is the integration of generative AI, including ChatGPT, ChatSonic, and AI Prompts. The Opera browser was updated with artificial intelligence features in March, paving the way for a redesign with a new way to manage AI and enhance the user’s browsing experience.
“Opera One marks the beginning of a series of innovations, including Opera’s own AI engine, which will be launched in the coming months. The web has become smarter and faster with generative AI. With Opera One, we are ready to lead this change,” said Joanna Czajka, Opera’s Product Director, during the browser’s presentation.
In addition to the integration of generative AI, Opera One’s sidebar follows the model of Opera browsers and allows quick access to readers, messengers, and workspaces, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Spotify, and Apple Music. Although it is still in the testing phase and not recommended for productive use, Opera One can already be downloaded.
Other browsers have also embraced artificial intelligence to offer more features to users, such as the integration of Bing in Microsoft Edge earlier this year and Google’s recent announcements for Chrome.
