Single-Choice Polls

Single-choice polls, which have been in the testing phase for several weeks, offer an alternative to traditional WhatsApp polls. By enabling this option, each group participant can only vote once, making the decision more crucial. Single-choice polls can be used to select a meeting place, decide on a dinner menu, vote for appointment dates, for example.

Enhanced Search Filters and Poll Notifications

Regarding polls, another major innovation is the new search filter in the app. Users will be able to search for polls in the same way they do for images, videos, or links. The button is located in the “Search” function, accessible from the “Conversations” screen. Additionally, if enabled, WhatsApp will inform the poll creator of each new vote.

Editing Captions for Shared Media

Shared images and videos sometimes require additional context, which is sent as separate messages, especially if they were received with captions from another user. Now, the messaging service allows the user to remove or edit the caption before finalizing the share.

Furthermore, WhatsApp will enable adding captions before sharing documents on the platform. Just like the ability to edit captions, this new option allows the user to provide more context when sending.

According to the company, these innovations will be rolled out in the app for users worldwide in the coming weeks. Therefore, it is essential to stay alert for WhatsApp updates (Android | iOS).
