Characters such as Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, and presumed new versions of Scorpion and Sub-Zero are already featured in the new trailer, with an eclipse seemingly serving as the reason for the heroes’ gathering. The confrontation, of course, is not peaceful, as the bloody images show, with plenty of gore and blood highlighting the game’s stunning graphics.

Cooperative Mode and Additional Content

The game’s main feature is a cooperative mode between fighters, with “Kameo Fighters” assisting during matches and offering new combat possibilities. This roster will include additional fighters exclusive to this format, with more information to be announced soon.

Those who pre-order the game will have access to Shang Tsung at launch, while the Kombat Pack will offer additional content throughout the game’s lifespan. Additions include six playable characters and a Johnny Cage skin inspired by actor Jean-Claude Van Damme, available on day one but not yet revealed in images.

“Mortal Kombat 1 marks a new beginning for the series, and we’re excited to share this untold story and fresh take on iconic characters,” said Ed Boon, the franchise’s creator and creative director of developer NetherRealm Studios.

A return to the franchise’s roots has been anticipated since Warner’s initial teasers. Images of a clock moving from the number 11, referencing the last game, directly to 1, hinted at a journey back in time for the series, with Mortal Kombat 1 embodying just that.

A Brazilian Portuguese dubbed version is also available, confirming the game’s localization for the Brazilian market. As mentioned, Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19 for PC, Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
